Comedy Central, on behalf of Stephen Colbert, sent the Yellow Ribbon Fund a check for $78,695 just in time for Christmas. The check represented the proceeds from the sale of merchandise from Colbert’s March to Keep Fear Alive that took place on the National Mall on Oct. 30. Organizers of the march, which partnered with Jon Stewart’s March to Restore Sanity, made tickets available to injured service members and their families, and offered a special area for wheelchair seating. The march drew more than 200,000 participants.
Arriving at the same time was a check for $10,000 from Colbert’s Americone Foundation, which receives proceeds from Ben & Jerry’s “Americone Dream” ice cream flavor.
