Linda Vinsanau of the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women brought a little of New Orleans’s Mardi Gras to Walter Reed on Thursday, March 10. At least 10 King Cakes, complete with tiny plastic baby and multi colored sugary icing were brought to the Mologne House for distribution to recovering service members and their families. And for those watching their figure, there were plenty of colorful beads to go around to capture the spirit of Mardi Gras. Pictured (left to right) is Linda handing Army soldier, James Nickelson a piece of king cake. James is assigned to WRAMC after recovering from an ankle injury for over a year now. With him, his wife Dennise proudly holds the baby found in the king cake. It is said that the baby brings good fortune to the lucky one who discovers it.
