Transportation

The Yellow Ribbon Fund’s Transportation program includes free rental cars for the families of injured service members and taxicab rides for the injured service members and their family members. As of Feb. 28, 2010 the Yellow Ribbon Fund has provided free of charge 1,161 free rental cars and 16,160 free taxicab rides.

Here is what several families have to stay about having a rental car:

“Thank you so much for your support during our recovery experience. Since Josh arrived at Bethesda in November, you have provided a car for our use. At a time such as this, this expression has meant so much to us. As a family, having a vehicle for our use was extremely helpful . . . We so appreciate what you have done for us at this crucial time.” Josh and Heather Glover

“The Marine Liaison Office told us about the Yellow Ribbon Fund . . . We are now at Walter Reed, where it’s very stressful, with all the meetings, doctors’ appointments, clinics, etc. If it wasn’t for your help we would have no transportation to get off the hospital grounds. Last week we went down to see the Washington Monument and saw some of the other monuments – it was so very nice to get out of here.”
