YRF’s adminstrative assistant, caregiver Christy Blankenship, is profiled in an article about non-medical attendants at Walter Reed. When her friend Eric, an Army medic, was injured and sent to Walter Reed, Christy gave up her job as a nurse in North Carolina and relocated to the Washington, DC-area to help Eric recover as his “non-medical attendant”. Once his recovery allowed him to be more independent, she took a part-time position with YRF while she continued caring for Eric as needed and making plans to get back to her nursing career.
